The Project “Creation of an overarching framework for Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) and Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV) in Viet Nam” (NAMA project) is jointly implemented by Viet Nam Institute of Meteorology, Hydrology and Climate Change (IMHEN), on behalf of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit – German Development Cooperation (GIZ), on behalf of the the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB).
The project is designed and being implemented with 5 main components: a) Improving the institutional capacity in MONRE to coordinate, develop and implement NAMAs; b) Identify and develop two specific and bankable NAMAs; c) Support technically the establishment of a national MRV system; d) Strengthen capacities for international negotiations on climate change and e) Support for Climate Policy development, including the NDC and the Plan for Implementation of the Paris Agreement of Viet Nam.
