On 21 March 2018, in the context of the project “Creation of an Overarching Framework for NAMAs and MRV in Viet Nam” funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB), the Viet Nam Institute of Meteorolgy, Hydrology and Climate Change (IMHEN) under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, and the Department of Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development under the the Ministry of Industry and Trade are jointly organizing the initial consultation workshop among core stakeholders on the concept and key findings of overview for an MRV Portal in Viet Nam in Ha Noi.
Objectives of the consultation workshop are to:
- Introduce the concept and present the key finding of overview of international good practices on similar portals and existing national databases and IT platform;
- Present results of the initial interviews with key stakeholders, in close linkage to the development of the Decree on Roadmap for GHG emission Mitigation and Measures and other activities towards establishing a national MRV system for Viet Nam;
- Collect the comments and feedback from the key stakeholders and discuss the recommendations and suggestions for developing the MRV Portal in Viet Nam;
- Discuss the next steps and concrete timeline towards the development of the prototype/mock-up of the MRV Portal.
